KBR68H, Pontianak-To increase greenery in the city of Pontianak, couples who want to marry will first be required to plant trees. The head of the Sanitation and Landscape Department (DKP) in Pontianak, Utin Sri Lena said the department will try to coordinate with the Ministry of Religious Affairs to require couples who wish to be married to plant or donate a tree.
He also explained that the trees planted would be trees selected by the Sanitation Department. The couple will eventually see a direct memento, in the form of tree crops. Additionally, the trees are expected to be useful for many other people.
Utin appended in 2009, DKP Pontianak City has to register 10,775 trees, including both those already aged and those cut down by the Sanitation Department.
To impart a sense of security in the community, the department will register existing trees alongside the roads in Pontianak, including those trees cut down because they are are fragile and old.
This year, there have been budget allocations for 3000 plates, which will be displayed on trees that have been registered. Additional goals include providing names for the flowers and trees and counting the trees within the area.
